OPES Foundation Spring BBQ! The OP Foundation is hosting its annual Spring BBQ, partnering with The Q Shack to bring you mouth-watering Family Meal options. Order your BBQ today for pick up at The Q Shack on Sunday, April 2nd! opesfoundation.org Pre-orders will be available through Friday, 3/31 at midnight. You cannot order after 3/31, so place your order today! Pick up is Sunday 4/2 from 2-4pm at The Q Shack. Purchase a Family Pack, then select two sides for free when checking out. All orders come with 4 jalapeno deviled eggs.

Dear Parents,
it is with mixed emotions that I write to inform you that I will be leaving Olde Providence Elementary and retiring this year. As many of you know, my wife Marie has been dealing with very serious health issues. She has been in the hospital since December 7th and is now back in the ICU. This has been hard for my family and me. I have been blessed to be a part of the OP community. In the past 10 years, you have given me the opportunity to teach, get to know your kids, and embrace them as if they were my own. I will miss each one of them, especially our conversations, their laughter, and their growth. June 12th will be my official last working day at OP. I cherish my time spent at OP and will miss you all.

OP IS THE PLACE TO READ! Thank you to Mrs. Rearick for this snapshot of the mid-year library stats at OP. So far, your students have checked out 22,144 books! A special shout to our top class, Ms. Laird, as well as Ms. Parker whose students make up half of our top 11! HOW COOL IS THAT?!

 

Girls on the Run

Girls on the Run begins in February! Open to girls in grades 3rd through 5th, with practices on Mondays and Thursdays. Cost is $170. Season-culminating 5K celebration is set for April 30th!

Soccer Club is starting soon! Charlotte Soccer Factory After School Academy will begin at OP on February 7th! Practices will be on Tuesdays from 3:15-4:15pm from 2/7 until 5/31.

Marie Soler

As you may know, Mr. Soler's wife was hospitalized last Tuesday to treat for for the flu at CMC Main. She had to be intubated and today was placed on a ventilator to help her breathe and release the pressure from her lungs from a severe case of pneumonia. Many of you have been praying for her and we ask that you continue to pray for her so she may recover and come home.
